Eastbourne to Hastings works
We carried out essential work over Easter from 18 to 21 April 2025 between Eastbourne and Hastings.
What work took place?
The essential engineering work between Eastbourne and Hastings saw our engineers lay over 5km of new track.
We also renewed 2,700 metres of track at Collington. We installed a new level crossing at Pevensey, involving 150 tonnes of new ballast, 160 metres of new rails, 120 concrete sleepers and new road markings.
When did the work take place?
Friday 18 to Monday 21 April 2025.
Why was the work needed?
All the works were to improve the rail network to increase the speed that trains can travel at and improve reliability, and reduce future delays for passengers.
