In October 2021 we completed a large programme of work on the railway in Twickenham, to provide better journeys between London Waterloo, Reading and Windsor & Eton Riverside.

Across six weekends in August, September and October engineers renewed three sets of switches and crossings – which allow trains to move from one track to another – at Twickenham Junction, west of Twickenham station.

This important junction allows trains to travel between London Waterloo, Reading and Windsor & Eton Riverside, or to Strawberry Hill, where South Western Railway (SWR) maintain trains at their Strawberry Hill depot.

Engineers also renewed 500 yards of conductor rail – which provide power to trains – to further improve reliability in the area.
