How we contribute to the industry's technical strategy for the railway
The first industry-led Rail Technical Strategy (PDF) (RTS) was published in December 2012. It described in detail how the railway of the future should look.
We set out our contribution to the RTS vision in June 2013 with the Network Rail technical strategy (PDF). Since then, we have contributed to significant developments achieved through industry collaboration.
Industry's one R,D&T programme
Building on this progress, Network Rail has contributed to strengthened collaboration across the rail industry, establishing reformed leadership – the technical leadership group – under the combined auspices of the Rail Delivery Group and Rail Supply Group.
Under the technical leadership group, the RTS has been developed as a single plan – the RTS Capability Delivery Plan (PDF). This sets out the capabilities, and the R,D&T programmes required to progress these, that need to be developed to deliver the railway of the future.
