With railway from the borders of Scotland to the nation’s capital, Eastern region is critical to the success of Britain.
It is an incredibly busy region, operating some of the busiest and most congested rail lines in the country, transporting large numbers of commuters to and from busy cities including Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Derby, Norwich, Cambridge and London.
The Eastern region is also home to other major transport hubs including three airports and 13 freight ports. Connecting millions of people every day to city, town, coast and country. Connecting people to friends and family, jobs and leisure, as well as goods to businesses here and abroad.
Our five strategic priorities
- Use our knowledge and expertise to improve experiences for passengers, reduce costs for the sector and create great places for businesses and communities.
- Grow our sustainable model by generating income to reinvest and create a better railway for a better Britain.
- Help fund Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan by selling assets not core to Network Rail operations.
- Release land for housing to achieve government targets.
- Delight our customers by putting them at the heart of everything we do.
