North Filton Station

We’re building a new station on the former Filton airfield to serve the new Brabazon neighbourhood

Phase one of construction of the new North Filton station is well underway. When complete it will bring the first regular passenger services to the Henbury line since 1964.

A second construction phase will then follow, to increase capacity of the station and enable it to meet the demands of the new arena being built.

The new station is part of the MetroWest phase 2 programme, mainly funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, with contributions from South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and GWR, with Network Rail as a key partner.

Phase one construction progress

Over a 10-day period during Christmas 2025, we upgraded the existing freight line, fully removing and replacing the track to meet all safety and operational requirements for future passenger service. The first platform blocks were also installed along with ducts and cable routes underneath the track.

Work continues on the foundations for the station through early 2026 with more of the platform construction taking place as we move into the Spring.

Lift shafts and the footbridge will follow in late Spring/early Summer 2026.
