Returners programme

Property returners programme

At Network Rail we recognise that there are times when you may need to take a break from your profession and know that trying to return to work in the same industry after time out can be tough and daunting.

We appreciate that individuals like you are a great asset to the organisation and can bring with you enriched experience and knowledge from your time out. The Property Returner programme is designed with you in mind.

Programme update 2021

This programme is currently on hold and we will be reviewing later in the year.

Who are we looking for?

Whilst mainly seeking surveyors of all levels and specialisms, Network Rail also has an opportunity for an accountant to work within the Property function.

About the programme

During your placement you will have the opportunity to learn more about Network Rail’s business, priorities and projects while progressively taking on more responsibility as you’re ready. The programme is intended to bring your industry knowledge and skills back up to speed and to provide you with support back into the workplace.

The programme starts with a comprehensive induction and a period of shadowing. You will have a buddy in their immediate team and a mentor from the wider business to ensure that you can settle into your role in a quick and stress-free way. You will also have the support and guidance of the HR team for additional training and development needs.

Flexible working can be considered, subject to a commitment of a minimum of 21 hours a week. You will need to be within reasonable commuting distance to the location you are applying for.

We hope to pipeline all successful candidates into roles in the business, dependent on roles available and success in the programme.

Salary varies depending on the role and location. The programme is up to 24 weeks.
