Network Rail is advising passengers in Hampshire to check before they travel on Monday morning (18 December) due to over running engineering work.
Engineers had worked throughout Sunday near Southampton as part of an £8million investment to renew railway infrastructure, but the work has taken longer than expected and the line will remain closed until work is completed. Train services will be affected as a result, with some trains cancelled and others diverted or delayed.
Network Rail is therefore urging passengers going to or from Southampton and other surrounding routes to check before they travel on Monday 18 December.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused by overrunning engineering work in the Southampton area this morning and advise passengers to check before they travel.”
