Network Rail is inviting residents in Bedford to find out more about work to upgrade the railway on the Midland Main Line.
Between 11-23 December, Network Rail will be carrying out ‘piling’ – installing foundations for the masts and gantries that will carry electrified wires needed to power new trains.
Piling involves driving cylindrical steel structures deep into the ground and can be noisy, with work taking place overnight when fewer trains run.
Network Rail is holding a public drop-in event ahead of the piling on Saturday 18 November at Harpur Shopping Centre in Bedford between 9:00 and 17:00.
Anyone who can’t make the event but wants to learn more can call the Network Rail National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
