We've planned essential engineering works this Christmas and New Year to give you better journeys.

They'll take place from Wednesday 23 December 2020 to Monday 4 January 2021 and will involve upgrades and routine maintenance around Britain.

Most of the railway will stay open for business as usual but we recommend you check your journeys in advance if you're planning to travel during this time.

The wide-ranging projects include track renewals, bridge replacements and improvements to signalling and overhead line equipment (OLE), which supply power to electric trains. Together, they'll give you better and more reliable train services.

Check National Rail Enquiries for up-to-date travel advice.
