Even better, you’ll be able to spend time out on the track, getting stuck into real projects as well as seeing your work in action. Think ripping up a section of railway and handing it back 24 hours later, functioning better than ever. You’re definitely not going to be confined to an office.
Great training and development
Engineering graduates are aligned to business units including Network Operations (Route-based); Infrastructure Projects; Safety; Technical and Engineering. The scheme is two years in duration and comprises rotational placements aligned to professional development requirements.
The programme is designed to build a platform of industry and technical knowledge, structured experience and complementary training and development. It provides the tools and opportunity to establish a solid pathway and knowledge to attain professional registration and senior engineering positions. We combine engineering technical training with a leadership skills programme delivering exceptional engineering talent.
Our successful candidates have the ability and opportunity to innovate and solve some of Europe’s leading rail, telecoms, electrification, asset and engineering challenges.

At university, I had always enjoyed all kinds of computer modelling and simulation, and now I’m working on validating a software that simulates rail traffic flows with the next generation of signalling. The results of the simulations are used to better define now what we will be doing tomorrow.
It feels great to use my ever-growing skills and knowledge to contribute to billion-pound decisions rather than just university module grades!
