In July 2019, we will replacing the track at the junction just west of Gloucester station to improve performance and reliability.
We’ll be working day and night from 00:40 on Sunday 21 July until 05:00 on Saturday 27 July, using cranes, road-rail vehicles, engineering trains and other heavy machinery. The work will be noisy but we make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum.
The level crossing at Horton Road will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians from 23:40 on Saturday 20 July until 06:00 on Saturday 27 July. Diversion routes will be signed and a regular minibus service will be provided for pedestrians, which will also stop at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Please leave extra time for your journey.
Further details about the project, including preparation and follow-up work, are available in our fact sheet (PDF).
