We're completing railway upgrades between Milton Keynes to Rugby between 4-12 January 2022
There will be no trains running on the West Coast Main Line (WCML) between Milton Keynes and Rugby railway station for nine days from Tuesday 4 January – Wednesday 12 January 2022.
However, a rail diversion will be in operation keep passengers on the move.
This is so £2m of vital engineering work can take place which will involve working around the clock to upgrade 4,000m of track drainage and ballast cleaning between the two locations, which will help alleviate the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall and provide more reliable journeys for passengers.
Impact on trains (4-12 January)
- London Northwestern Railway and Avanti West Coast will have timetable changes in operation along with alterations to some services. Please plan your journey ahead and check before you travel.
- WCML trains will divert via Northampton so that passengers can be kept on the move. The diversion will mean that journeys take approximately 25 minutes longer than usual.
- London Northwestern Railway passengers travelling from Crewe – Euston will have to change trains at Rugby to get into London.
- All services will return to normal on Thursday 13 January and we’d like to thank you in advance for your patience and support whilst we deliver this important infrastructure work.
Our lineside neighbours who live close to the railway between Milton Keynes and Rugby will receive letter notification of the work in advance of it commencing and we are committed to keeping any disruption to a minimum.
