In May 2020 we installed just under a mile of new track between Botley and Fareham in Hampshire.

In a week-long line closure between Saturday 23 and Friday 29 May, engineers worked for a total of 10,000 man hours to install new, high grade track that is designed to last up to 60 years.

The challenging track renewal used a New Track Construction train to lay new rails and sleepers through Tapnage Tunnel, between Botley and Fareham (pictured).

Passengers can now expect more a more reliable railway between Eastleigh and Fareham and better performing trains.
