Caerleon Road railway bridge

We will be refurbishing Caerleon Road railway bridge in Newport as part of our Railway Upgrade Plan.

The essential repair and renewal work to the 113 year-old railway underbridge, which crosses Caerleon Road, will include steel work repairs to strengthen the bridge, stone work repairs to the bridge abutments, plus deep cleaning and painting.

This essential work will help restore the bridge for years to come. This upgrade work will be completed in two phases. This decision was made together with Newport City Council and other partners to avoid having to close the road for any extended period of time to complete these works minimising disruption to the local community and road users.

This work is expected to be completed by Spring 2019.
