As part of our wider £1.2bn South East upgrade investment programme, we are working to improve station infrastructure across the Kent route.
At Etchingham station, we will carry out a full refurbishment and strengthening of the existing life-expired Lattice Girder footbridge and access stairs. This work will commence on Saturday 23 October and is scheduled to be complete by mid-December 2021.
The work will mean the introduction of improved surfacing and tactile strips, making Etchingham a more accessible station.
The footbridge will be closed during the work so the nearby level crossing (75 metres away) will be used as a way to cross over between the station platforms.
Passengers will need to allow longer for each journey during the construction work as the level crossing barriers often close to enable passenger and freight trains to pass safely.
More information can be found on our level crossing safety page.
For some of the work, between 23 – 29 October 2021 the station will be closed entirely as part of the Tunbridge Wells to Hastings line closure.
