We are working to upgrade all three lifts at Luton Parkway Station from July 2020 to November 2020

The much-needed work will improve reliability for passengers for years to come. Work will start on Monday 20 July and will take until November 2020.

To speed up the work, all three lifts will be improved at the same time, meaning that all will be out of use for passengers, with no step-free access to the main airport entrancDelivering the project concurrently extends the period of disruption to passengers dramatically, as each lift would normally take 13-15 weeks to complete. Working on one lift at a time, would make the station inaccessible for passengers with reduced mobility. By carrying out this work simultaneously we are minimising the overall disruption to passengers.

Why are we doing this work?

The existing lifts at Luton Airport Parkway are life expired, with a high number of faults and failures recorded, resulting in the lifts been taken out of service on numerous occasions, having a negative impact on station users and passengers.

Advice for travellers

What if I have heavy luggage?

We have additional staff on hand to help those with heavy luggage on the stairs and escalators and the stairs leading to platform 1. The only access to platforms 2,3 & 4 will be via stairs.

What if I can’t use the stairs?

Passengers who require step-free access should contact Thameslink’s dedicated assisted travel team on 0800 058 2844 or email assistedtravel@thameslinkrailway.com to make alternative journey arrangements.

Step-free access is still available to Platform 1 for London bound Thameslink services from Kimpton Road.

Passengers needing step-free access to platforms at Luton Airport Parkway are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
