August 2017 railway improvement work

This August we’re working to provide faster, more frequent services and relieve overcrowding on trains

As part of the national Railway Upgrade Plan, our orange army is working on some of the country's largest infrastructure projects this August, including the August bank holiday.

Plan ahead as some services will be restricted and some will not be running during this time. Remember to check your journey plans on the National Rail website now, before you travel.

The Railway Upgrade Plan is a programme of improvements to provide more capacity on the rail network and relieve crowding and congestion. The key benefits include longer, faster, more frequent trains; a better, more reliable infrastructure; and better facilities for passengers, especially at stations.

You can find more detail about what work is happening on the railway this August at the bottom of this page – the London station information also refers to lines in and out of these stations, to and from other parts of the country.
