Successful August bank holiday for Railway Upgrade Plan

Extensive redevelopment works took place at London Waterloo

During the August Bank Holiday, Network Rail and its suppliers delivered more than £130m worth of engineering work

From the evening of Friday 25th August through to the morning of Tuesday 29th, over 17,000 people were working up and down the country in nearly 3,000 worksites delivering major enhancements as well as core renewals and maintenance works across the rail network.

This was a truly ambitious scheme of works - the biggest ever during an August bank holiday, on a scale beyond anything that we had attempted before - and 99% of projects were completed on schedule.
