Cheltenham Festival-goers travelling by train from Birmingham New Street are being given top tips to help them get off to a winning start for 2020.
With thousands of people travelling by train from Birmingham to the world famous meet this week, railway racegoers are being encourage to:
- plan their journeys
- check before they travel, and
- allow extra time to catch their train.
Station manager, and top travel tipster, Paddy Power, said: “Travelling by train to Cheltenham is my top tip. Passengers can increase the odds of a successful journey by allowing more time to catch their train. That's tip number two.
“To avoid a long face, my third tip is always check before you travel at www.nationalrail.co.uk.”
Network Rail stewards will be in Birmingham New Street station to help passengers throughout the event from today (10 March) until Friday 13 March.
The station team has been planning for weeks to be ready for the thousands of extra passengers who use the station to get to the world-famous racing meet.
A queuing system may be in use to avoid any jockeying for position, but fans shouldn’t need to wait for long with up to four services an hour direct to Cheltenham.
