The line between Tonbridge and Redhill is currently closed in both directions after a landslip this afternoon (Sunday 22 December). An hourly bus replacement service is running in place of trains today and this will also apply to Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th and Friday 27th December.

Fiona Taylor, Route Director for Kent said “A significant earthworks failure near Godstone, affecting the Tonbridge to Redhill line, means that in the interest of safety we have had to take the difficult decision to close the line in both directions for the foreseeable future. A team of specialist engineers has been on-site since midday assessing the situation and drawing up plans to fix the problem.

“The significant amount of rainfall over the last five days has had a huge impact on the railway and this was the case here on the line near Godstone. I am extremely sorry for the disruption this will cause to passengers over the festive period and we will issue a further update just as soon as we’ve finalised plans for fixing the landslip, so that passengers are able to plan ahead.”
