Residents in Cheadle Hulme are invited to find out more about work to rebuild a footbridge over the railway between Cheadle Hulme and Handforth stations.

The bridge which provides access between Heathbank Road and Hulme Hall Close will be rebuilt to ensure it remains safe and reliable for passengers and local people.

Residents and footbridge users are invited to find out more about the work at Ryecroft Park Sports Club (Park Avenue, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 6EU) on Thursday (14 November), between 4pm and 7pm, when Network Rail will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the work.

Oluwole Osunneye, scheme project manager for Network Rail, said: “We are rebuilding the footbridge in Cheadle Hulme so it remains safe and reliable for passengers and the local community for years to come. I’d like to thank the local community in advance for their patience during this vital work.”

To carry out the work, the footbridge will be closed to the public from 6 December 2019 until mid-February 2020.

There will also be changes to train services every Sunday in January 2020 to allow engineers to complete the work safely.
