Network Rail, Govia Thameslink Railway and Stagecoach are inviting residents to find out more about work to upgrade Bromham Road bridge in Bedford as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade.

The bridge needs to be demolished and reconstructed at a higher height to provide a safe distance for the overhead line equipment passing beneath, enabling the line between Bedford, Kettering and Corby to be electrified.

To allow this work to take place safely, the road will fully close to vehicles later this month and a clearly sign-posted diversionary route will be in place. There will also be improvements to Bedford station and a reduction in car parking there during the work.

Residents and motorists are invited to find out more about the scheme at a public information event on Tuesday, 11 June between 15:00 and 19:00 at The Bedford Centre Hotel, 2 St Mary’s Street, Bedford.

Workers from Network Rail, Govia Thameslink Railway and Stagecoach will be on hand to answer any queries.

Anyone who wishes to find out more, but cannot make the event, should call the Network Rail National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
