Infrastructure Projects (IP) is our national infrastructure delivery arm, working to increase capacity on the network by developing, designing and delivering enhancements and large complex capital projects. IP also undertakes renewals works to replace expired infrastructure with modern equivalents in line with our Railway Upgrade Plan.

With over 11,800 live projects, IP relies on an extensive supply chain to help deliver a Better Railway for a Better Britain.

Changes to project advice notices

Project Advice Notices (PANs) are a vehicle for internal communication within Network Rail Infrastructure Projects. A PAN is a document that communicates formal advice and instructions rapidly and in a consistent way within a programme or engineering team.

Previously, a register of PANs has been associated with the Network Rail standard and was published alongside these by external publishers of the standard. This standard is due to be withdrawn shortly, to be replaced by an internal process. PANs will continue to exist, but it will no longer be possible to publish the register on our standards publisher’s sites.

Going forward, the PAN register will be available on this page and updated on a quarterly basis.
