What you’ll be doing

You’ll be part of the function that looks after everything from the traditional ballast and sleepers to cutting edge technical services. Throughout your placements you’ll develop your skills by supporting the commercial management of contracts, building supplier relationships and delivering the physical supply chain that underpins our infrastructure projects. You’ll spend time working through the various stages of the competitive tender process, carrying out site visits, chairing meetings and keeping a close eye on costs. Ultimately, you’ll be helping us maintain our high safety standards, eliminate business risk and achieve financial savings.

The placement offers a unique insight into how a government funded organisation works. The supply chain function is responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of all goods, works and services for Network Rail. You’ll learn how to source, procure and deliver to internal and external customers across England, Scotland and Wales.

Entry Requirements:

You must be in your penultimate year and be on course to achieve at least a 2:2 Degree in Quantity Surveying from an RICS accredited course.
