  • West of Exeter Route Resilience Study

  • West of Exeter Route Resilience Study - coverThe West of England main line through Exeter and Newton Abbot provides the only railway link between the South West peninsula and the rest of the country. Loss of the route, even temporarily, without a viable alternative has ramifications for the economy and for mobility and connectivity across the region.

Critical success factors for a sustainable route include technical feasibility, safe operation and maintenance, resilience against severe weather events, the ability to accommodate forecast demand, value for money and a journey time similar to (or better than) that of today.

This report, published 15 July 2014, summarises the findings of our high-level study into the options. There is also an introductory presentation.
