  • National Stations Improvement Programme

  • Warrington Central

    On Schedule

We’re working with the train companies to deliver better stations across England and Wales. The £150m National Stations Improvement Programme will make a difference for over 150 medium-sized stations in areas such as passenger information and facilities.

  • Better facilities

Real-time information, clearer way-finding and better waiting areas are just some of the benefits for passengers being delivered by Network Rail and the train operators. Like at Canterbury West and Aylesbury stations which now have improved passenger information systems.

Work to improve stations in Aberystwyth, Rhyl, Pontypridd, Port Talbot and Ystrad Mynach is now underway: see what's happening in Wales.

    Coordinated work

The improvements are delivered alongside other work at stations where possible to help minimise disruption and keep costs down.

    Additional funding

The government will provide £150m and an additional £17m has already been raised from third parties so far to help deliver more extensive improvements for passengers.

    Completed projects

Over 60 projects have been completed so far, benefitting 150 different stations across England and Wales. Find out more about completed projects and stations that are set to get improvements:
