There are around 225 places available on the three year scheme which has five engineering programmes, each one giving you the chance to work in a critical area of the business, and where your development will continue beyond the three years of the scheme.
- Apprentices at HMS Sultan, Hampshire
You’ll spend a year training alongside the Royal Navy at Europe’s largest engineering training facility at HMS Sultan in Hampshire. There you learn both the technical skills required to work on the railway and develop leadership and teamwork behaviours to be effective in your work. For the next two years you learn your trade, working within an experienced team at your local depot continuing to return to HMS Sultan regularly for additional courses and training.
Earn while you learn
Not only will you be paid whilst you are in the first year, there is also a bonus when you successfully complete the first year (the salary will rise in years two and three). We’ll also pay for accommodation in the first year and provide all the clothing and personal protective equipment. There will be paid travel home as well as 28 days holiday plus bank holidays.
The qualifications available
Over the three years you'll study for NVQs and BTECs in Engineering and also the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualifications which you'll need to undertake your role with us. We'll also give you the personal skills you'll need to progress within the organisation.
How to apply
