We’ll have members of staff on hand with information and to answer any questions as you look three months into the future. You'll also have the chance to play a quiz all about King’s Cross redevelopment.

The new concourse

Ian Fry, our programme director at King’s Cross said: "With around three months to go until the new concourse opens, we want to share more details about the new facilities and the changes to the way the station will work. For example, to improve passenger flow, people will enter the platforms via the new concourse and will exit via the old concourse."

The new concourse will be the stand-out feature of the redeveloped King’s Cross station. The domed roof covers an area three-times the size of the existing concourse and is big enough to fit over six Olympic-sized swimming pools. As well as providing a brighter, more spacious station, there will be a wide range of new shops and improved facilities.

Fact file

King’s Cross station is being transformed into a world class transport hub with better connections to St Pancras International and London Underground, increased capacity for additional trains and improved facilities.

  • Scheduled for completion in March 2012, the new concourse on the west side of the station will include a larger ticket office, a new shopping experience, waiting areas, a wider range of food and drink and more modern facilities
  • Following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we’ll start work to create a new piazza in front of the station. This new public space will be larger than Leicester Square
  • Demolishing the existing concourse will reveal for the first time in decades the Grade I listed Victorian façade which we’ve fully restored to its former glory
