and South East passenger market study was one of four Market Study documents
produced as part of the Long Term Planning Process. Together,
the long distance and regional urban passenger market studies and the freight market study set out how passenger and
freight demand is expected to change in each of these markets in Britain over
the next 30 years.
The London and South East market
study looked at how the market in the area within (broadly) a 80-mile
radius of London has developed in recent years and considers the benefits to
the economy, the environment and the quality of life for communities and individuals
within the study area that can be achieved by further improving and developing
the rail network. Key deliverables of the study were the ‘conditional outputs’
for the London
and South East sector in terms of frequency, journey time and/or passenger
capacity on key flows.
and South East market study was consulted upon, responses considered, and then published
as a final version.
