King's Cross station was the chosen location of the world famous Harry Potter films. Both Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) from the J.K Rowling series were filmed at the station, where a permanent tribute of the famous platform 9¾ has been erected in their honour.

The Network Rail team worked with the crew to ensure the filming process went as smoothly as possible by facilitating the arrival of the steam train and superficially transforming some aspects of the interior structure of the station to capture the magical feel of the books.

Location Manger, Sue Quinn said: "I found the Network Rail team to be extremely efficient and accommodating; no request seemed like too much trouble. The station was transformed during the shoot and the team were cooperative to our needs, making sure the filming process ran smoothly."
