Dore and Grindleford

Facts: We're building two freight loops. Upgrading single to double track at Dore junction and adding a new platform at Dore & Totley station to accommodate the double track.

Castlefield Corridor

Facts: We're undertaking signalling and operational improvements to increase capacity.

Benefits: Increases the number of trains that can be operated along the line from 12 an hour to 16 an hour in each direction.

Manchester Oxford Road station

Facts: We're extending the platforms to six car length and improving the approach tracks either side of the station.

Benefits: Longer more frequent trains can be operated through the station.

Manchester Piccadilly station

Facts: We're adding two new platforms alongside the existing platforms 13 & 14.

Benefits: Increases the number of trains that can be operated through the station and along the Castlefield Corridor.

Rochdale station

Facts: We're adding a third platform at Rochdale station allowing trains from Manchester to terminate without blocking the main line.

Benefits: Trains going beyond Rochdale can overtake terminating trains, reducing bottlenecks.
