Euston
The original Euston station opened in 1837 but was completely rebuilt in conjunction with the electrification of the West Coast Main Line between 1963 and 1968. Two Portland stone entrance lodges and the war memorial still survive from the old station and are situated on Euston Road. The station serves over 71 million people each year.

Note: During 2008/early 2009 there are works commencing throughout the station in order to make improvements to access and facilities. Where possible clear signage is in place to notify users of alternative access and facilities. Please consult this signage or ask a member of staff for details.

The main travel centre is located on the west side of the concourse and is open for tickets purchased on the day of travel as follows:
Monday – Friday: 06.00– 24.00
Saturday: 06.00– 23.00
Sunday: 07.00 – 24.00

Telephones
There are payphones at the top of platforms 1 – 3, 12 – 15. A BT Minicom system is available on the top of platforms 12 – 15 with a second in the customer reception.
Taxis
The taxi rank is beneath the station and is accessible via the stairs by the Underground. Additional assistance is available to and from the taxi rank and many cabs are accessible by wheelchairs. Assistance can be requested by using a telephone at the top of the stairs, or at the taxi set down point.

Buses
The bus station is at the front of the station. The low-floor buses, wide gangways, space for luggage and ramps for wheelchair access make the service ideal for all travellers. Click here for more information.
Parking
There is a secured car park underneath the station which is accessible via the stairs by the Underground. Vehicle access is from Melton Street. Disabled spaces are available and additional assistance can be requested to and from the car park. Post code is NW1 2RT.

British Transport Police
The British Transport Police have an office on the station; It is adjacent the exit onto Melton Street by Platforms 16-18 on the Western Concourse. Alternatively please speak to a member of the BTP or the BTP’s Police Community Support Officers on the concourse.
First aid
If you require First Aid, please come to the customer reception or contact any member of staff.
Toilets
Toilets are located beyond the top of the ramp leading to platforms 1 - 3. Disabled toilets and baby changing facilities are also provided. A charge of 30p is levied for the use of these facilities. Change machine available.
Additional assistance
Assistance is available to and from platforms, the car park and the taxi rank. You can request this from the Customer Reception or from any member of staff on the concourse.
Passengers are able to book mobility assistance prior to their journey with the train operating company.

Underground
Euston Underground station is accessible via the escalators next to the LRT kiosk. Euston is on the Northern and Victoria lines. Nearby on Euston Road you will find Euston Square Underground Station with with Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City Lines

Trolleys
Trolleys are available at various points throughout the station and are coin-operated. The £1 deposit is refundable when the trolley is returned to a bay.

Bicycle facilities are located on the West Colonnade outside the travel centre.
Left luggage
Left Luggage is a secure place where you can leave items of luggage for collection later. The left luggage office is at the top of the ramp to platforms 16 – 18 and is open between 07.00 – 23.00. Please call 020 7387 1499 or click here for more details.
Photo booths
There are a number of photo booths at the station where photos for passports, travel passes and other identity documents can be obtained.
Lost property
The lost property office is at the top of the ramp to platforms 16 – 18 and is open Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.30. Please call 020 7387 8699.
Virgin first class lounge
This facility is available to all first-class ticket holders travelling on Virgin West Coast and Scotrail services. The lounge has a licensed bar and also includes showers, conference rooms, and fax and photocopying facilities. For more information call 020 7922 9219.
Waiting lounge
The waiting lounge on the western concourse is open between 05.00 - 00.00 daily.
There is also seating available on the concourse, in the food court and in the travel centre.

Chronology
- The original station was opened by London and Birmingham Railway (later LNWR) on 20 July 1837.
- The Propylaeum (or Doric arch) was completed in May 1838.
- The station was extended west in 1846 and the Drummond Street offices opened in the same year.
- The Great Hall opened on 27 May 1849.
- The approach drive and lodges were opened in 1870 and the present lodges are in Euston Road.
- The station was extended east in 1873 then again further west in 1892.
- A new booking hall was constructed between 1913 and 1916.
- The LNWR War Memorial was erected in the 1920s.
- The Doric arch and Great Hall were demolished between 1961 and 1962.
- The entire station was rebuilt between 1961 and 1969 with three office blocks built on the forecourt between 1969 and 1979.
Station design
- The 1837 had an iron trussed pitch roof, 40ft by 200ft in size. This was planned by Robert Stephenson and designed by Charles Fox.
- The Doric arch and screen were designed by Sir Philip Hardwick (1792 – 1870), architect to the Duke of Wellington.
- The Great Hall and other architectural elements were designed by Philip Charles Hardwick (1822 – 1892), Sir Philip’s son.
- The statue of Robert Stephenson was retained in the present forecourt following the demolition of the original station. This bronze sculpture was by Carlo Marochetti.
- The present station was designed by British Rail’s Midland regional architect, R. L. Moorcroft and team, and was opened by Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1968.
- The office blocks were designed by Richard Seiffert.
