The Northern Hub

Over the next 20 years we want to transform the way you travel in the north, creating a new northern hub for passengers.

We want to increase the amount of train services in the north by 40% - that's 700 more trains a day, making it possible for 3.5 million more passengers to travel by train every year.

  • Transforming rail in north
  • Our plan for Manchester

Piccadilly and Victoria stations to be directly linked via a new section of track at Ordsall.

Manchester Victoria to be restored to its former glory and made into a major interchange station.

Journey times cut from Manchester to Liverpool, Leeds and beyond.
