• Nuneaton North Chord

The new rail chord is part of a nationwide project to free up space on the network and create a more reliable railway for passengers.

  • We’re improving the reliability of passenger services and taking more lorries off the road by introducing a new section of track at Nuneaton station.

This will allow freight traffic to travel through the station without affecting passenger services. The work is part of a bigger, national scheme to improve freight capacity on the UK rail network.

This is part of a wider programme to create a route for larger 9’6” containers, (becoming more and more common to transport freight), between the port of Felixstowe and the Midlands, North West of England and central Scotland.
