The Secretary of State for Transport granted permission for the Hitchin flyover in March 2011. The notification was received following submission of an application for a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) in September 2009.
As part of the TWA process a four day exhibition was held in the centre of Hitchin and meetings took place with resident groups in Letchworth. We would like to thank everyone who attended these sessions and participated in the consultation. Further information about the construction process will be available over the coming months.
Initial consultation
For four days in April 2009, we exhibited our plans in the centre of Hitchin. Since then we have continued to consult with local communities, including a public meeting in Letchworth in July.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the exhibition and spoke to our staff and also those who have contacted us since then regarding the scheme. Whilst the consultation period has now closed we will continue to respond to queries and requests for further information throughout the planning process and the lifetime of the project.
