Our ability to build what is required was confirmed on 18 October 2006 following the granting of a Transport and Works Order for the Thameslink Programme. This secured for Network Rail the required planning permissions to build the major elements of the scheme.
The permissions were given following a full Inquiry which closed in December 2005. The Order was granted following a long consultation. During this period, hundreds of people and businesses were given the opportunity to have their say on our plans. We would like to thank everyone for their involvement during this period. The scale of Network Rail’s work means that additional planning permissions are likely to be required to cover the detail of specific pieces of work.
