National Centre
Network Rail is planning to build a National Centre in Milton Keynes.
Its purpose is to help us build great teams, inspiring better ways of working through an exciting and innovative environment. It will be a dedicated centre combining engineering, investment planning and management, logistics, operational planning, information management and national functions. It will enable us to accelerate the pace of cultural and behavioural change by bringing the right people together into a single location.
The new building will house up to 3,000 jobs and we plan to build on the current site of the National Hockey Stadium, regenerating a key site in the city. The building will be one of the most sustainable in Britain and will bring long term investment in the local economy.
We were given permission by Milton Keynes Council to construct the National Centre on 21 January and will start construction in the summer 2010.
