Length Capability
The maximum length of trains that can operate on the network is derived from physical limits such as the length of chord lines, platforms, loops and terminals. This is to ensure that trains can be held for traffic regulation purposes without impacting on other train movements.
The maximum permissible length of a train is mainly determined through the train planning process and performance considerations.
We will be publishing more information about length capability on the network later in 2008. In the meantime, Train Operators requiring information and/or advice should contact us.
More information
More general information about network capability is provided in our Network Statement (Section 3), also published on this web-site.
