North Erewash signalling renewal (Tapton) The North Erewash scheme is part of Network Rail’s plans to invest more than £250m in improving the East Midlands’ rail network over the next five years. This weekend will see engineers working on the line between Coney Green and Tapton Junction to replace signalling equipment and carrying out preparatory work for the future realignment of lines and relaying of track. The work will deliver real benefits for the travelling public by further improving the reliability of services on the route.
Derby We have been working at Derby station since February. Over the August bank holiday weekend, we will continue to renew the platform canopy structures, platform surfacing, lighting and CCTV system. The staircases are also undergoing refurbishment and the unused footbridge will also be demolished. There should be no effect on passenger travel with the station operating with its full complement of train services. This work represents an overall investment of £23m.
