Grangemouth Junction
During the development of the project an opportunity was identified to renew the junction in a re-modelled form that would incorporate a number of significant operational benefits. Under the re-modelling proposal the existing double junction that incorporates a set of switch diamonds would be replaced with a single lead junction.
The revised layout delivers the following key benefits:
• A line speed increase on the main line from 30mph to 50mph.
• A line speed increase on and off the branch from 15mph branch to 25mph.
• Operational flexibility for trains terminating at Falkirk Grahamston.
The scheme was opened in June 2007.
