A responsible and sustainable railway
Sustainability demands a broader look at the priorities for the railway to find the best balance between the needs of the economy, society and the environment.
We are committed to a policy of sustainable development and we recognise the importance of delivering an affordable and sustainable rail service, as part of an integrated transport system, which is fit for the 21st century.
The Corporate Responsibility Group (CRG), chaired by the chief executive, sets out the guiding principles and direction for corporate responsibility and environment at Network Rail in cross-functional bi-monthly meetings. As well as establishing the strategic vision for sustainability throughout Network Rail, this meeting is a forum for reporting on the status of ongoing corporate responsibility and environment initiatives across all the business functions.
The Corporate Responsibility Group comprises:
- David Higgins - Chief Executive
- Gareth Llewellyn - Director, Safety and Sustainable Development
- Richard Doyle - Director, Human Resources
- Paul Plummer - Director, Strategy
- David Biggs - Director, Property
- Steve Featherstone - Special Projects Director
- Barry West - National Delivery Services
- Paul Macfarlane - Director, HR Performance
- Mark Langman - Route Managing Director
- Kate Broome - Corporate Responsibility Manager
