Network Capability
Network capability describes the operational characteristics of our infrastructure.
We have identified eight definitions and measures to describe these characteristics.
They are:
- Track and route mileage
- Electrified track miles
- Permissible line-speeds
- Gauge capability
- Route availability
- Length capability
- Gradients
- Gross annual tonnage
Each of these definitions is described in more detail on succeeding pages of this section and can be accessed using the links provided.
We are publishing information about these capabilities and each page describes how to access the detailed information about these measures. This statement is provided to support Train Operators in planning and delivering their business.
Access to some of the detailed information is restricted to railway industry parties. However, more general information about network capability is provided in our Network Statement (Section 3), also published on this web-site.
