Working with Suppliers
Network Rail requires sufficient suppliers that are commercially competent and provide goods and services competitive with those engaged by delivery and construction companies of similar size.
Our organisation
Contracts and Procurement at Network Rail is organised into different functional units or commodity groups. These are:
- Infrastructure Investment
- Maintenance
- National Delivery Services
- Corporate Supplies & Services
Becoming eligible to be a Network Rail supplier
In order to become a supplier to Network Rail, various levels of accreditation are required, depending on the type of work to be undertaken. Together with other organisations in the railway industry, we participate in a common supplier qualification process called Link-Up.
The role of suppliers in Network Rail’s business
We work with our suppliers to maximise the contribution they can make towards Network Rail meeting its business objectives. Network Rail’s Contracts and Procurement function is leading the reduction in cost across the industry while striving to improve efficiency.
Suppliers who regularly and continually help us achieve our targets on safety, quality and efficiency in a positive and cost-effective way will occupy key positions in our supply chains.
