Ian McAllister
Ian McAllister – Chairman

Ian McAllister, former Chairman and Managing Director of Ford , is non-executive Chairman of Network Rail.  He is Chairman of the Carbon Trust and also senior non-executive director of Scottish and Newcastle.

David Bailey
David Bailey – Non-Executive Director

David Bailey has a procurement and logistics management background and was the former Commercial Director for London Transport. He has also previously held various director level roles within London Underground.


Ian Buchan
Ian Buchan – Non-Executive Director

Ian Buchan was Chief Executive of National Express Group's train division. Previously he was Business Development Director for First Group. He has also held various director level roles with Passenger Transport Authorities.


Yvonne Constance
Yvonne Constance – Non-Executive Director

Yvonne Constance was Chairman of the National Electricity Consumers' Council for four years. A justice of the peace since 1976, she has been a non-executive director of Innogy, and also a non-executive director at a large London NHS Trust. She is a member of the Greater London Magistrates' Court Authority.


Jim Cornell
Jim Cornell – Senior Independent Non-Executive Director

Before retirement Jim Cornell held various positions in British Rail including General Manager of Scotrail between 1985 and 1987, Director of Civil Engineering between 1987 and 1992, Managing Director, Regional Railways in charge of one of the board’s three passenger services and latterly as Group Managing Director of British Rail Infrastructure Services between 1993 and 1996. In addition to his non-executive position in Network Rail he is also Executive Director of the Railway Heritage Trust.


Mike Firth
Mike Firth – Non-Executive Director

Mike Firth, was previously Head of Corporate Banking at HSBC Bank until his retirement in September 2002. Having previously been a non-executive director of Somerfield plc, he is now a non-executive director of Communisis.


Chris Green
Chris Green – Non-Executive Director

Chris Green was Chairman of Virgin Trains until his retirement in 2005 and has 40 years of railway experience in various director level roles. As well as previously being British Rail’s Managing Director of Network SouthEast and Intercity, he has also held the position of Chief Executive of English Heritage and was a non-executive director of Eurotunnel.


 

Steve Russell – Non-Executive Director

Steve Russell joined the Board in September 2007.  Previously he was Chief Executive of Boots Group PLC (2000 -2003), working there since he started his first job at the company in 1967. He currently holds several non-executive directorships including Barclays PLC – where he is chairman of the audit committee and a member of the board risk committee and Business Control Systems Group.  He is also a trustee of St John's Ambulance and Tommy's, the baby charity.
