• Our plans for a new public square

  • We have now submitted our plans for a new public space at the front of King’s Cross station.

More than 4,500 people took part in a public consultation on the proposals and the architects, Stanton Williams, have subsequently revised the original designs.

There have now been more trees incorporated as well as a combination of traditional Yorkstone and granite paving.

An area has also been identified as a potential site for displaying works of art and Network Rail and the London Borough of Camden have agreed to work together to identify suitable work which could be displayed without cost to taxpayers.

The completion of the square in 2013 will reveal the Victorian grade I listed station façade for the first time in 150 years. At more than 7,000 square metres the square will be 50% bigger than Leicester Square and will open up the space currently occupied by the 1970s concourse extension.
