  • Track-side fire risk

  • In dry weather, our neighbours should take extra care when lighting bonfires and having barbecues in their gardens.

It is very easy for garden bonfires to get out of control and spread to the railway. Line-side fires can spread very quickly and have a big impact on train performance, causing major delays to services and passengers.

    Stay safe

    • Please do not throw garden waste or rubbish over the boundary fence
    • Remember that barbecues present a fire risk - especially if you use barbecue fuel or fire lighters
    • Position bonfires and barbecues away from the boundary fence and garden furniture, and at a safe distance from trees and shrubs
    • Never leave barbecues or bonfires unattended

In the event of a fire call the fire brigade immediately.
