    We're upgrading the North London line, a vital part of the capital's transport network. This essential link gets millions of people to work and moves goods to and from the UK's biggest container port.

  • More passengers, more often

    More frequent, bigger-capacity trains able to carry more than three times as many people.

    Access for All

     The Access for All scheme makes stations on the route more accessible to all passengers, including those with disabilities, and is being delivered by us on behalf of the Department for Transport.
     

    Preparing for London 2012

    Funded by Transport for London, the Olympic Delivery Authority and Network Rail, this project has been fast-tracked so it's completed in time for London 2012.

    Complex works

    We're renewing seven kilometres of track and 69 sets of points and upgrading more than 200 signals for a more reliable and frequent timetable.

    We're also lengthening 30 platforms and making improvements at seven more stations to allow four carriage trains to run, reducing overcrowding.

     

    Completing London's Orbital railway

    We're working with TfL to join a brand new 1.3km extension of the East London route to the national rail network heading into Clapham Junction – completing London's orbital railway.
