Our commitment
Working with the Scottish government we are committed to engaging with communities, letting them know what is happening locally, but more importantly, to listening to what they think.
We are committed to an informed and inclusive consultation and will positively engage with communities keeping them informed of developments.
The views and opinions of the people who use the railways and the people who live by them are crucial to developing a full and accurate picture of what people want and what communities need in their area.

What happens next
Once this first phase of consultation is complete we will review and consider all the comments we have received.
In the second part of the consultation by summer 2012 we will report back the findings and our considerations before phase 2, then apply for the powers required.
- 2011: phase 1 consultation, June 2011 to 31 January 2012, (extended due to demand)
- 2012: phase 2 consultation, summer 2012 for 3 months, and submission of Transport and Works Order
- 2013/ early 2014: Scottish Government’s approvals received (anticipated)
February marked the first phase of our public awareness activities which formed part of the pre-consultation engagement for the programme. Up to 200,000 leaflets were distributed across central Scotland to raise awareness of the project at key stations along the line of route and through door to door distribution to line-side neighbours. This activity was complemented by a poster and a leaflet campaign within stations and at key points throughout the project area.
Your questions answered
Throughout the consultation period, even at times when it is not active, EGIP will endeavour to answer any questions and work with communities to ensure that they are fully aware of what we are planning and what stage of the process we are at.
The first phase of the consultation officially closed on 31 January 2012. After this date we will be compiling feedback and sharing it with partners to inform and update the proposal we will consult on in phase 2 of the process. We will also continue to meet and work with various stakeholder groups at this time to further the consultation objectives.
Throughout this period we will publish and update information as it becomes available to ensure that communities and affected parties are fully aware of the latest information. Timetabling work also concluded in January and Network Rail has committed to publishing this when it is available.
