Graduate Scheme

Network Rail is creating a railway for the 21st century; will you join us and say: "I did that?"

The future of Britain’s railway is our responsibility and it’s one we’re taking very seriously.

Our remit stretches far beyond the network of railway lines that run the length and breadth of the UK. From stations to tracks, signals, bridges and tunnels, we own and manage a vast number of assets essential to the social and economic wellbeing of the entire nation. In order to meet the travel demands of an ever-increasing population, we’re expected to grow by at least 30% over the next ten years. During such uncertain economic times this is rare indeed. In fact, we have funding secured for an infrastructure investment programme that could change the face of Britain.

Train punctuality is at its highest for seven years and rail travel is now the safest form of transport in Britain. But to realise our vision of becoming a world class company means there’s a lot more challenging work to come. It’s going to take billions of pounds and hundreds of the sharpest minds in the business. Projects like Crossrail – the biggest civil engineering project in Europe, the £5.5bn overhaulof the Thameslink route, the £425m Reading remodelling project, the massive £600m Birmingham New Street project and the £300m new line from Airdrie – Bathgate will demand an expert group with a myriad of experiences. It’s essential that you share the motivation and drive to deliver our uncompromising schedule of project delivery. Along with the passion to carry out work that will touch the lives of millions.

We’re looking for graduates with the enthusiasm to contribute, the motivation to succeed, and above all, a desire to mould the future of some of Britain’s most important, groundbreaking engineering projects and make a real difference to the network’s operation.

If you want to look back with your own stories and an overwhelming sense of pride and satisfaction, Network Rail could be just the place for you. It really is a job worth doing.
