What’s involved?
Our in-house maintenance team work together to safely maintain our
signal, track, power and telecoms equipment across 20,000 miles of track
in the UK. You’ll be spending most of your time outdoors, using
automated and manual tools.
You’ll carry out general maintenance, which could include anything
from lookout duties for your team to shovelling ballast. We’ll provide
you with all the training and protective clothing you need.
You should be conscientious, reliable and hard working, making sure
you only carry out work for which you’re trained and competent. The
health and safety of our passengers, colleagues and partners depends on
everyone’s individual contribution, so you must always work safely and
in accordance with our procedures, method statements or other
instructions.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that vehicles, materials, tools
and plant equipment under your control are fit for use and are used,
stored and disposed of correctly.
This role involves shift working that will include days, nights and
weekend work. It’s safety critical, which means no alcohol or drug
consumption is permitted. There’ll be regular drug and alcohol testing
and a pre-employment medical check. If you’re shortlisted for this
position, there’ll also be a communications test.
